#23 A little killer to get rid of your doubt (not for free of course)

Straight to the point. Improvise! Have a plan, but if it stops you from acting, it's better to just go with the flow. You will not be prepared for 95% of important things in your life, get used to it. Sometimes it works like on war, it does not matter right or left, you have to move.
The one thing I want you to learn from me: do not expect anything, any result, any success. Just do what you can and a little more. Then, if you will succeed in something, it will be a nice surprise. If not, well... you did your best and that matters the most.

Before I started learning, I always wanted to be able to portray characters from books and other media, not necessarily in the most accurate way possible, but for fun. Well, I still can't do that, but I can at least try. This is going to be chibi version of a book character (from one of the best books of all time). As you can see, I planned to draw her sitting with her legs pulled out towards the viewer. Lets just say... it did not work out...

Here are the major outlines. Her head, is reaaaaaaaaally wide. It's characteristic for chibis, but I went a little overboard.

On the more positive note, I'm getting much better with the eyes! But here I stumbled upon another problem. Drawing a character with black hair, dark eyes and without any characteristic traits is difficult. You have nothing to focus on.

Because of the hair color, I didn't know how to "let know" that her left eye is slightly covered by her hair. It just looks derpy.

With the minimal shading. If you wonder - straight face is canon.

Here's where the "feet problems" started. Apparently, I have no idea how a sitting person looks like.

Her hair looks dull, so I added always helpful random brighter shapes. Also, my vision changed to a more simplistic one, of a standing character.

Look! She is not that wide anymore! Yea, no matter how long I was looking at that head, it just wasn't hitting me. Now she is (not very) happy little egg.
She definitely could use some polishing, but I started really late and didn't have much time and energy to keep going.
To be honest I like her, simple, cute and faithful to the source (as good as I could ok?). I'll try to make better chibis in the future, but it's a decent start, I would say.
Anyway, it's late. Thank you for reading and not giving up. Just do your best and the success might come. It will be much more enjoyable as a surprise, believe me.
